Trolly dollies production and sneak peak...

Our rolls in the production.

Original Idea, suggested by myself and developed by Ash, Mike and myself. All three of us worked out the full story, putting all our ideas into one comprehensive short music video.

All three of us worked out the storyboards and animatic, then decided who should do what after finding music that would suit the piece.

I was responsible for the main character animation of the Air hostesses.
Ash has done the passenger animation and design interacting with the CG surroundings that where built and modelled by Mike, who also did the graphic design of the pamphlet within the animation. Mike Built the CG environment and did the camera moves and added in the 2D elements Ash and myself worked on.

We worked very well together and im so glad our idea was chosen.

The final Film is rendering and will be ready soon to post on the Internet.
Until then here is a sneak peak at one of the scenes i animated. :D

Trolly dollies

These are some pre production sketches i did for the project that Ash, Mike and myself are developing.

How im doing.

Right well its been a long time since i uploaded anything.

All of January I was in Thailand working in an Animation studio called Imagimax. What an amazing experience! It was life changing for me, literally.. I went there being vegetarian for 10years and after 2 weeks there i was back eating meat!! XD

The studio was something else! just awesome! here is a link for you to see for yourself... imagimax
I worked in the 2D department. There i learned loads of new skills and techniques.

Here are some of the things i did over the 4 weeks i spent there.

Digital painting.
We were given an original piece of artwork and had to restore it and make changes to it.

Vectoring from photos in Photoshop and Flash for a make up game.

Character designs for make up game.

Character designs for Thai Computer Game. The characters where based on Thai Gods.

Sweet!

Ok here it is my first ever CGI animation with Maya, i hope to get better with practice.

Maya

Right well we had a week Maya intensive training with Matt Leonard. There was a lot to take in but its not as scary as i had once perceived. We started with he basica... moving, bouncing balls and moving objects and creating models. Then we went on to learn the harder stuff including modeling, rigging, lighting and textures, was a lot to take in.
After that week of training we were each assigned to a project given by Dinamo, Calon and Griffilms.

This time around i was given the Calon brief.
For this brief i will be required to produce a short bit of CGI animation introducing a character. I will have to have a brain storm to think up what it is i will do for this project seeing as i have never used CG animation before this and i dont want to do anything to advanced. :D

Andrew Offiler came to talk to me and Gary (who is also doing this brief) about this project and what things to look for when producing our work.

Tim Allen

Tim is a stop motion animator who has worked on a number of things my favorite being The Corpse Bride and Creature Comforts. His acting skills through his animation are very good and that is what he came to help us with. His advise was great and we have been told he will visit us again to help with our next project.

Monday, 20 August 2007

I have finished my three week flash project. The six of us at Cyfle where given our first industry animation project.
Three briefs where given

Calon, three scenes from Bobinogs.

Griffilms a viral internet animation of Mr stunt butt.

Dinamo, dialog based animation in the style of The Moose.

I was given the Griffilms project and completed a short viral animation involving mr stunt butt sniffing a flower and sneezing a lot. Was fun to animate and i did enjoy the project even though the subject matter was not to my taste.
Once i have permission i shall put a link up to my animation.

Digital story telling

Today we had a writing seminar with Ian Staples it was really good. We had a great laugh making up stories about peter peter the pumpkin eater! Then we got serious and discussed our stories with him and got some great feedback. I just finished writing what i'm going to say and will start recording tomorrow. Still don't know what style to use. I'm sure i'll come up with something. :D

Also Richard Webb from Moseleywebb came and visited us and showed us some of the flash work they do, looked interesting.

Shrek 3

Well we went to see Shrek last night... the animation was ok, and some of it looked nice but there wasn't much story. However it wasn't as bad as i heard it was going to be and there was one part in the film that made me giggle uncontrollably i wont say which bit just incase anyone hasn't seen it yet... it involved a baby ogre head and the donkey thats all im saying!

Puss in boats is by far the best character... so cute!

Mike Collins

Had a wonderful talk from Mike Collins yesterday morning, his art work is incredible! here is a pic i found of him on the net...

Calon visit

Our first visit around an actual animation studio... was amazing! The group and I went all around Calon this afternoon. We saw the sets of Hanas Helpline and met a lot of people involved in the making of the show. Lynne Stockford was lovely enough to drive us to the location as well as introducing us to everyone. The sets were beautiful.
After our visit there we went to their other studio and looked at some Bobinogs animation and storyboards. Learnt some very interesting tips on using different software. We also talked to Andrew Offiler in his outstanding office!!

So far so good.
